Privacy notice
Updated October 22, 2026.
Browsing and accounts
You may browse without an account. When you register, the service stores your email address, display name, account credentials or sign-in-provider identifiers, and session information. Passwords are hashed. Learning accounts store the selected audience and completion progress.
Children
A parent or guardian must set up a child's account and provide the recorded consent, guardian name and guardian email requested by registration. Do not submit a child's private information in business or contact messages.
Submissions and business profiles
Contact messages, corrections, business submissions and editorial replies are stored with the submitting account. Administrators review them. Approved business profile fields, including the business's public ownership evidence, may be published. Unapproved submissions and contact messages are not public.
Business email requests
If you request sponsorship information, we store your business name, website, contact email, consent wording and time, email confirmation and review status, and delivery records. These records are private to administrators. We use the email service to send confirmation and approved sponsorship messages. Unsubscribe links stop sponsorship emails; a minimal suppression record is retained to prevent contacting you again. This does not cancel an advertising subscription. For access, correction or deletion requests, contact info@blackhistorycollector.com.
Card likes
If you choose to like a card as a guest, a signed cookie remembers your voting identity in that browser for up to one year. Signed-in likes are associated with your account. We store the card, voting identifier and time; only aggregate counts appear publicly. You can remove a like using the same account or browser. Clearing cookies resets your ability to manage earlier guest likes. When you like a card while signed in, guest votes from that browser are merged into your account without duplicate votes.
Artifact discoveries
When you collect a hidden artifact, the same signed browser identifier used for likes saves your finds for up to one year. Signed-in discoveries are associated with your account. Opening the discovery board while signed in links this browser’s guest finds to your account, without duplicate finds. We store the artifact, explorer identifier and finding time. Public boards show aggregate counts and anonymous explorer names, not account names or email addresses. Clearing the guest cookie can remove access to guest finds. Contact us to request removal of stored discovery records.
AI history guide
The optional AI guide sends your questions and this chat’s prior messages to Floot AI and its model provider to generate answers using public catalog excerpts. It cannot access private accounts, billing, internal notes or other visitors’ chats. A temporary bearer token is held in page memory and expires after 30 minutes; reloading starts a new session. Chat text and answers are stored in the hosted database, become inaccessible after seven days, and are removed during cleanup when a new chat session starts. The AI service may process requests under its own retention policies. Do not submit passwords, payment details, sensitive information or children’s private details. A parent or guardian should operate chat for children. Use Contact for privacy requests. The guide cannot send messages to a human or change your account.
Your analytics choice
Current choice: Temporary session analytics only. Enabling browser recognition stores a random analytics session ID and last engaged-visit time on this device. It helps estimate returning browsers; it does not identify a person.
Device storage and analytics
Favourites and guest reading progress are stored locally on your device. Authentication uses session cookies. Built-in site analytics defaults to memory mode; you can optionally enable browser recognition above or turn analytics off. Engagement event payloads contain card paths and action names, not form contents or account emails. In memory mode, it records page paths, referrers, browser information, language, timezone-derived country and a temporary random session identifier without storing that analytics identifier on your device. Reloads may count as new sessions.
Payments and outside sites
Advertising checkout is processed by Stripe; we store billing identifiers and status, not full payment card numbers. External source links, company sites, sign-in providers, remotely hosted images and any enabled advertising services operate under their own privacy notices. The website's Google AdSense placements are currently unconfigured.
Retention and requests
Account, learning, submission and billing records are retained while needed to operate the service, handle requests and keep transaction records. Use Contact to request access, correction or deletion. We may need to verify account ownership and retain records needed for payments or unresolved requests. To remove device favourites, use Clear saved favourites in Search under Saved on this device, or clear this site's browser storage.
