Garfield Heard (born May 3, 1948) is an American former professional basketball player and coach. He played collegiately at the University of Oklahoma where he was named first-team All-Big Eight as a senior. Heard was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics (now the Oklahoma City Thunder) in the third round of the 1970 NBA draft. He had an 11-year NBA career for four franchises and five teams: the SuperSonics, the Buffalo Braves, the Chicago Bulls, the Phoenix Suns, and the San Diego Clippers. The Braves and Clippers were the same franchise, now known as the Los Angeles Clippers. Throughout his NBA career, Heard had a reputation as a fine defensive forward and rebounder, and as someone who played his best in the most demanding circumstances. Heard was traded to the 1975–76 Phoenix Suns with 36 games left in their season.
