Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

Black-and-white silver gelatin photographic print of an unidentified model wearing a necklace by jeweler Art Smith. Taken near the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts during the 1974 annual summer session, the model is captured from a high angle from the shoulders up. She is either standing or sitting on a rock as she looks directly into the camera. Her hair is pulled back and she wears a short sleeved dark color shirt. The necklace has multiple thin metal bands that wrap and bend around her neck, with small metal spheres at the termination points. There are no inscriptions on the front or back of the photograph.
