Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

An abstract oil painting by Lisa Corinne Davis. The painting features geometric lines and squares in varied size and shape creating a grid-like structure that resembles a map of city streets. Most of the painting consists of scattered green squares amidst light blue lines of square and rectangular forms against an off-white background. Orange-red grid lines begin by wrapping closely around the bottom left corner, growing larger and varying in shape across the rest of the painting to both the upper right and lower left corners, creating a sense of depth and movement. Along the left side is a narrow vertical strip of dark blue with green, red, and light blue squares. On the verso in the top left corner is the title [“HYPNOTIC HYPOTHESIS” / 2022] with the artist’s signature just below [Lisa Corinne Davis].
