Sterling silver pair of dangle "Agate" earrings with agate stones by Art Smith; designed circa 1940s-1950s and made between 1950s and 1960s. The body of each earring is made from a single piece of sterling silver, shaped and folded to create a modernistic shape. The main body is a triangular shape, with a setting in the middle for the placement of the agate stone and the apex continuing as a point of a rhombus. The rhombus is folded vertical and in the direction of the main body, with the parallel point flatten and laid over the agate stone to keep it in place. At the top of the earring’s body is a loop to dangle from a flat backing, connected to a screw backing. The back of each earring is stamped with Art Smith’s hallmark.
