Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

This is the Far West ring designed and created by jeweler Art Smith. The ring is formed from a sterling silver wire shaped into an open-ended band with a serpentine or wave pattern. Placed on one end of the band is a large, triangular red and purple agate gemstone set in a bezel of very thin sheet silver. The other end of the band holds a small, flat silver triangle with a smaller gold triangle soldered on top. When worn, the two triangular faces sit atop the finger, with the serpentine band wrapping around the back of the finger. Stamped on the underside of the large triangle bezel are three hallmarks: [STERLING], Smith’s signature [Art Smith], and [14k].
