Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

This is the "Link" or Elemental bracelet designed and created by jeweler Art Smith. The sterling silver bracelet is comprised of two wires, one long and one short. The ends of the longer wire are soldered together to form a large loop which has then been curved to form an open-ended cuff that fits over the wearer’s wrist. The two sides of the loop are close together at the center and gradually widen towards the ends. At the top center of the cuff, the ends of the second, shorter wire are soldered together around both sides of the large loop, creating a movable circle that can slide across the narrower center of the cuff. The bracelet has one hallmark on the inside edge of the cuff, Smith’s signature [Art Smith].
