Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

A linocut of two figures embracing each other with a village in the background. In the left foreground, two figures embrace each other. Two additional figures are in the right foreground, facing a landscape scene. In the center of the print is a river or other small body of water with plants and flowers growing along its bank. Off in the distance, a village of small, dark houses and a church appear on the left bank. An arched bridge crosses over to the right bank, where there is a city composed of tall, white buildings. A sun appears amidst dark clouds in the upper left corner. The clouds brighten towards the right side of the print, and a bird flies in the sky between the dark village and the light city.
