Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

A linocut depicting a scene of a boat coming upon a group of nude female figures in a mountainous landscape. The female figures appear both black and white along a rocky shore in the center of the left side of the print. The small boat is in the bottom right corner and holds two male figures and a musician with a guitar. There’s a narrow channel of choppy water next to the rocks that opens into a wide expanse of calm water beyond the female figures. In the far background are several mountains beneath a streaked sky. There are no marks or inscriptions, front or back.
