Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

A yellow bone china accent plate from the Wedgwood X Sheila Bridges collaboration, featuring the dancing vignette from Bridges' Harlem Toile de Jouy design. On the face of the small, round yellow plate is a scene of a man and woman dancing in front of a triumphal arch. They both wear 18th century clothing and have kicked off their shoes to dance barefoot. The man’s body faces the viewer as her holds his right arm in the air and his left hand out towards the woman. The woman is dancing with her left arm raised and her right arm stretched out to meet the man’s left hand. Her skirt is partially tucked up and her head is thrown back as she dances. To the left of the couple is a large boombox.
