A digital, color image by D. Michael Cheers captures French President Emmanuel Macron at the podium during the ceremony for Josephine Baker’s induction into France’s Pantheon mausoleum. A large headshot of Baker in her military uniform takes up the left portion of the image. President Macron, wearing a coat over a suit with a white shirt, stands behind the podium on the right of the image. The white podium has a vertical French flag running down the right side. On top of the podium is a white place card with black text reading: [HOMMAGE SOLENNEL / DE LA NATION À JOSÉPHINE BAKER / PANTHÉON - MARDI 30 NOVEMBRE 2021] or in English, “SOLEMN TRIBUTE / FROM THE NATION TO JOSEPHINE BAKER / PANTHEON – TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2021.”
