Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

A digital print depicting a black-and-white image of a street scene in New York City. There are people of all ages in the scene. Most appear to be on the sidewalk, with a few people standing on the street near the sidewalk. Some people appear to be in motion while others are standing or sitting on a stoop. There are three children who appear to be playing with a string. Slightly off centered to the left in the image is the back of a hexagon-shaped street sign. A young girl is posing with the post, facing away from the camera. Towards the center of the photograph is a religious figure in a habit, possibly a Catholic nun based on the cowl.
