Source catalog description
This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.
A red, liturgical cope worn by Reverend Ike. The cloak-like garment is primarily constructed from red, damask silk woven with a repeating floral pattern and has a caplet made from the same material. The cope features two, wide, gold ribbon bands that run down either side of the front opening. Gold bands also accent the back side of the caplet and there is a single band running down the center of the back of the cope. At the front center of the caplet is an ornate gold clasp. Each end of the clasp features gold squares embellished with molded square crosses accented with lines. Attached to one side of the clasp is a short chain with a small hook at the end that fastens to the other half of the clasp to hold the cope closed.
