Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

This silkscreen print depicts an abstract form against a yellow background. The abstract form sits on a straight black line drawn horizontally across the bottom margin of the image. The entire form is rendered in tones of metallic silver, greys, and charcoals and consists of a rectilinear-shaped base with a shaft rising at a slight angle from one side. As the shaft merges with the body of the form, a rectangle-shaped section protrudes from its right side. A line of chain-like links runs up the central shaft of the form. The abstract form rounds out into semi-oval/ rectangular shape set an angle to the top of the shaft. There is a large oval-shaped indentation in the left side of this shape. In the margin below the image are three graphite inscriptions [5/50] at left, [Transcendence] at center, and the artist's signature [MEdwards] at right.
