This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

A fitted sleeveless mid length grey denim dress designed by Patrick Kelly for his Spring/Summer 1988 collection. The dress has a sweetheart neckline and a waist seam. Rows of white machine stitching are placed along the center front, the side seams, and the center of each bust. All these seams continue to the hemline except for the center front seam which ends at the waistline. The back of the dress has a center back seam and two back side seams that mirror the location of the vertical bust seams on the front of the dress. The center back seam ends at the waistline while the side back side seams end at the hem. A fifteen-and-a-half-inch zipper with a metal pull and plastic teeth is sewn along the proper left side back seam. A metal hook and eye is sewn above the zipper. The double fold hem is secured with two rows of machine stitching.
