Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

This photograph album contains seventeen (17) pages, with the final one pasted to the interior back cover. The cover is made from burgundy synthetic fiber and off-white bast fiber covered pasteboard, with a cream-colored celluloid panel on the front cover that has a raised decoration of a floral sprig. The spine is made from brown cloth. The back cover is made from the same burgundy synthetic and off-white bast fiber covered pasteboard. The pages have gold gilt around the edges. Each page has a window for displaying a cabinet card, or in the case of the final three pages two windows for displaying smaller photographs such as cartes-de-visite or tintypes. The windows on the pages are framed in gold gilt. The book closed on the proper right side with a metal clasp, the back half of which is now missing. An inscription is written on the inside cover.
