Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

A vinyl record (a) and cardboard album jacket (b) for the comedy album Now Hear This! by Moms Mabley. The black vinyl record has a red paper label with printed black text and the Mercury records logo in white at top center of each side. The album jacket cover has a white background with a large square color photograph of Mabley playing a trombone and large red block letters reading [MOMS MABLEY]. In the image, Mabley appears from the waist up, leaning to the right and making a comical expression as she blows into the trombone mouthpiece. She wears a red printed dress, and a red cap sits askew on her head. [NOW / HEAR / THIS] appears in white text in front of the trombone bell. The back of the jacket is white with printed black text providing the track listing, production credits, and a biography of Mabley.
