Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

Cream silk with multi-colored polka dot print column dress by Bill Blass. The dress has an all-over large-scale print design of chartreuse, orange, red, pink, fuchsia, and pale pink polka dots on a cream ground. The dress is strapless with a rounded collar that is attached at the center front and center back upper edge of the bodice. The back skirt is cut slightly fuller toward the bottom to create some flare and a short back train. The dress closes at the center back bodice and collar with a zipper and one (1) metal hook-and-eye at the top of the back collar. The dress is fully lined in cream silk fabric. The bodice has an additional layer of the lining material, which closes at the center back with a zipper and one (1) metal hook-and-eye each at the top and bottom edges of the interior bodice. This is a separate closure from the exterior zipper.
