Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

Chartreuse satin evening coat with blue satin lining by B Michael. The coat is open at the center front with no closure method, the edges pressed open to reveal the blue lining. The coat reaches to the floor in the front and has a short train in the back. It is collarless and has full-length sleeves with gathered shoulders and fitted cuffs. At the proper left cuff are two (2) large fabric roses made from the chartreuse satin. One (1) even larger fabric rose is attached to the proper right cuff. Threads and pulls in the fabric on the cuff openings of both sleeves indicate a previous closure method. A strip of the male side of tan Velcro is sewn to the proper right cuff, but there is no female side for fastening. The sleeves are lined in the chartreuse fabric rather than the blue satin used to line the body. There are no labels.
