This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

A photograpic portrait of a girl wearing large earrings. The photograph has an overall blue tint with reddish-orange highlights and the earrings are a bright gold tint. The portrait is a close up of the girl's face and hair. She wears a large, square, bamboo door-knocker style earring in her proper right ear. In her left ear, she wears two different gold earrings, the first a large, vertically twisted chain and the second a smaller hoop. Her hair is away from her face in small braids with reddish-orange tint. She is looking at the camera with a slight smile. There are no inscriptions on the front. On the back, a handwritten inscription by Bill Adler reads [Coreen Simpson "Untitled (doorknocker earrings), 1989].
