Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

A pair of navy leather pumps with matching shoe clips. The shoe features a pointed toe and short heal and the outside is composed of two panels of navy-blue leather seamed together at the center back heel and the inner side. There is a detachable 3” wide shoe clip at each vamp composed of a rectangle of navy-blue leather and one navy ribbed synthetic ribbon that folds under both ends of the clip, creating a modern bow. The synthetic ribbon is most likely glued to the shoe clip and there are metal tongs at the back of the clip. There is an interior sole made from one panel of gray vinyl with [THE / LOCKE / SHOE] written on the inside with gold text. Synthetic knit lines the inside of the shoe and gray suede lines the interior counter.
