Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

A black dress with red and green sequins. The dress is made of black synthetic organza. Red plastic sequins and green plastic sequins are arranged in squares across the surface of the fabric. The sequins are machine sewn to the synthetic organza with monofilament thread. The full-length dress has a round neckline and long sleeves. The gigot sleeves are gathered at the top of the shoulder and have a two inch long slit at the bottom of each sleeve. The slits close with a metal snap at the bottom of each sleeve. The dress is fitted, and the side seam on the proper left side transitions into twenty-two inch slit at the bottom of the dress. A twenty-inch zipper with a metal pull tab and plastic teeth is sewn along the center back seam. A metal hook and eye are sewn above the zipper.
