Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

A black and tan turtleneck sweater with an oversized tan collar. The front of the turtleneck is made from one panel of tan synthetic (likely polyester) fabric for the neck and body of the garment. There are two black sleeves, sewn to the body of the garment in a tee-construction. Each sleeve is made from one panel of black synthetic fabric sewn to itself at the inner arm and ends with a 2” slit at the wrist. There are two inseam pockets, one at each side of the waist and each pocket is self-faced. The turtleneck is hemmed with an elastic waistband. The back construction of the garment fully mirrors the front. The inner collar is lined with black synthetic fabric. An ivory fabric label is sewn at the inner collar that reads [FASHIONED BY / OTIS L. CAVER] in ivory and red text. The inside body of the garment is unlined.
