Source catalog description
This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.
A green folio-style handbag with khaki flocking. The purse strap, made from a hardened material (possibly paper or plastic) covered with khaki colored flocking. The flocking is a synthetic material glued into place. The strap is wider at the base (2”), narrower at the center (1”), and attaches to a 1” wide metal fame with metal trapezoid shaped rings. Khaki colored flocking also borders the 9.75” long green synthetic leather font flap. The border is geometric in design and widens and narrows in various places. The purse flap fastens at the center with a metal locking mechanism that folds downward, and it’s encircled by a molded gold metal wreath. The body of the bag, also composed of green synthetic leather, has a similar geometric flocked border, which has a slight peak at the center.
