Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian Eliot Elisofon Photographic Archives, National Museum of African Art. Visual details below describe the original material.

Text on front reads: "Dakar - Le Gouvernement Général. Collection A. Chaussende, Dakar." Translated postcard caption reads, "Dakar - Central Government." Marcel." Translated handwritten text on verso reads, "Watch out for the British! The 'Wadai' which was next to us at Bathurst, is on his way to Las Palmas. The 'Vugath', from the same company, instead goes the opposite way. Business is good. we unloaded 300t. of concrete from Marseille as well as 100t. of Champagne! We still have some marchandise for Karsacker I.... There we will start to reload the ship. Best wishes to dad as well. Marcel.".
