Source catalog description
This description refers to material held by Smithsonian Eliot Elisofon Photographic Archives, National Museum of African Art. Visual details below describe the original material.
Original caption reads: "Funeral ceremony of a Chief at Old Calabar (N.C.P.)." At the ceremony, two men slaughter two cows while being surrounded by several small boys and other members of the village. Ten older boys playing drums, horns and carrying flags seemed to be dressed in what looks like old European police jackets and helmets.
